Derinya Basketball Club consists of nearly fifty teams, each team consisting of up to 8 players, a volunteer coach and a team manager. Each team is scheduled a 45-minute training session each week of term, subject to availability of stadium. Training sessions are prepared by the coach so training will vary from team to team. The coach will generally use a warm-up at the start of the session, followed by a series of drills to hone in on various skills and ensuring all players are included throughout.
Training Locations
Indoor training sessions are held at Derinya Primary School Stadium.
Derinya Stadium is scheduled as a half court to teams. Naturally if there is no team scheduled to the other half court or they are opting to train outside or not train, you are welcome to use the full court. The only exception to this is if a teacher requests to use this space for Dance or other reasons, in which case they have priority use of that space.
Throughout the year the Derinya Stadium may not be available due to extenuating circumstances eg Polling Booth Set-up, DACE, Junior Production, Gr 6 market day setup etc. You will be provided with as much notice as possible in these cases and will generally invited to train outside.
A digital thermometer has been at Derinya Stadium to enable the coaches to discretionary apply the heat policy (refer to button below). The thermometer is located behind the basketball ring at the oval end of the stadium on the steel column.
The non-Derinya stadiums are scheduled based on availability, to this effect we cannot guarantee the use of a full court for the prescribed training time.
